IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society of University of Peradeniya

What is MTTS?

The IEEE Microwave Theory and Techniques Society (MTT-S) is a global organization with over 10,000 members and 190 branches. We are honored to be the first IEEE MTT-S Student Branch Chapter in Sri Lanka, as the University of Peradeniya's IEEE MTT-S Student Branch Chapter.

It was initiated in 2016 with the aim of being a strong internode in the chain of IEEE MTT-S to go ahead with the society vision and to succeed the mission.

Our Mission is to continue to understand and influence microwave technology and to provide a forum for all microwave engineers.

We have successfully completed several initiatives on our route to these objectives in the last few years.Our university offers a fully equipped microwave laboratory with prominent professors who are experts in this discipline.

Radio astronomy is one of the key projects carried out by IEEE MTT-S Student Branch Chapter, University of Peradeniya.The society has provided funding for the development of a 4.6m parabolic antenna that will serve as a radio telescope for receiving transmissions from space.

The first-ever Antenna Workshop organized by the IEEE MTT-S Student Branch Chapter at the University of Peradeniya in 2022 was a significant milestone for the chapter and the university. As a pioneering event, it aimed to bring together students, academics, and industry professionals to explore the fascinating field of antenna design and technology.

The Antenna Workshop was a resounding success, attracting many participants and receiving positive feedback for its quality sessions. It enhanced students' understanding of antenna technology

Our Team

industry's standard dummy text ever since the 1500s, when an unknown printer took a galley of type and scrambled it to make a type specimen book. It has survived not only five centuries, but also the leap into electronic typesetting, remaining essentially unchanged.
